Star Wars
|
The first release in the Star Wars saga, A New Hope, was released in May of 1977 by Lucasfilm. George Lucas was not expecting to make enough money to create the whole saga, which is why he began with A New Hope, which is Episode IV. However, Star Wars was a huge hit, and the next two Episodes, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were created in 1980 and 1983. The next trilogy in the star wars saga made by Lucasfilm was a prequel trilogy to the originals. It began with Episode I, The Phantom Menace, in 1999. The next two installments in the prequel trilogy were Attack of the Clones in 2002 and Revenge of the Sith in 2005. This satisfied fans, but by 2014, we were hungry for more. Lucasfilm released The Force Awakens, which is Episode VII and the first installment in the sequel trilogy in December of 2015. The very next year, 2016, Lucasfilm released the first Star Wars spin off movie, Rogue One, which takes place between the original trilogy and prequel trilogy. It describes the adventures of a band of rebels and how they retrieved the Death Star plans for the rebels in A New Hope. Rogue One led up to about ten minutes before the original trilogy. Later this year, in December of 2017, fans will be receiving Episode VIII of the sequel trilogy, The Last Jedi. Next Year, in December of 2018, Lucasfilm will release another spin off movie about Han Solo, a character in the original trilogy. It doesn't end here either. In 2019, the last movie in the sequel trilogy, Episode IX will be released, but the title has yet to be released. The last movie to be released in modern Star Wars will be released in 2020 and will be another spin off. No details of this movie have been released yet, but it is suspected that it will be about the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi.
